Cafeteria - Taranaki Base Hospital and Hawera Hospital
A cafeteria is located on Level 1 at Base Hospital and on the main corridor at Hawera Hospital. The cafeteria is open to the public and features a full range of meals, snacks and food to take away.
Meal times are:
- Continental Breakfast 7am - 9am
- Cooked Breakfast 7am - 8.30am
- Lunch 11.15am - 1.30pm
- Dinner 4.45pm - 6.30pm
Chapel
The Taranaki Base Hospital Chapel is situated on Level 2 near Orthotics. The Chaplaincy service contributes to the health and welfare of patients, family members and staff by providing pastoral and spiritual care. A chaplain is available 24-hours-a-day and may be contacted via the operator.
The chaplains at Base Hospital are supported by a team of volunteers chaplaincy assistants.
An Ecumenical Service with communion is held in the hospital chapel every Sunday at 11.15am. There is a Catholic Mass on the first Saturday of the month.
Prayer, Holy Communion, Anointing and Baptism (in emergency) are available on request.
Hospital Shop - Taranaki Base Hospital
This is located in the main foyer of the Ward block and sells a variety of items including cards, magazines, flowers and sweets. The shop is open from 9am to 7.30pm, weekdays and 10am to 4pm at weekends and on public holidays.
A mobile trolley from the shop visits the wards on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Whaiora
Whaiora offers temporary accommodation to support whanau of inpatients at Taranaki Base and Hawera hospitals. Priority is given to whanau from outside of the New Plymouth and Hawera townships
