Taranaki has its first confirmed case of Swine flu today. A woman is in Taranaki Base Hospital with Influenza A H1N1 swine flu. She had recently travelled to Wellington and developed symptoms of influenza on her return. She is currently being nursed in isolation and her condition is stable. It is anticipated that she will be discharged home tomorrow. More info...

Taranaki DHB’s Public Health Unit is following up on a new swine flu contact. The female was part of a group that returned from the United States yesterday (6 May) on NZ1, two members of this group (not from Taranaki) are now suspected cases. She does not have any symptoms, but is in voluntary home quarantine and has been given Tamiflu as a precaution. More info...
