Financial Assistance for Food and Nutrition Initiatives in Schools and Early Childhood Education Services

April 1, 2009

The Taranaki Nutrition Fund is available thoughout 2009 to help schools and early childhood education services (ECES) and their communities establish sustainable healthy eating environments.

Schools and ECES are invited to submit their applications to round seven by the closing date of June 5th, 2009.

As long as you are able to clearly identify your needs and submit a detailed action plan, the panel is open to a range of funding requests.

Previous and current projects include providing opportunities for learning about food and its preparation for students or parents/caregivers; establishing edible gardens; setting up cooking, lunch or breakfast clubs; providing training from a registered dietitian for staff, caterers or parents/caregivers; or the purchase of appropriate food preparation equipment.

We also encourage cluster applications between schools and/or ECES.

The application form, frequently asked questions and guidelines can be found on the Taranaki District Health Board website: http://www.tdhb.org.nz/misc/projects/heha/about_heha.shtml
