Project Maunga Progressing Well

Taranaki District Health Board yesterday agreed to the tender process beginning for the construction of Project Maunga, Taranaki Base Hospital redevelopment.

Registration of Interest will be asked for on April 22nd for the engagement of builders for stage one of the redevelopment, closing in early May.

The board plans to identify a preferred contractor in August with building set to commence in early 2011.

The stage one redevelopment will include two new surgical theatres (six in total), ambulatory services and an inpatient ward block. The new surgical theatres will allow for more operations to be carried out. It will consolidate ambulatory and inpatient services allowing for the best models of care to be used, while bringing inpatient accommodation up to modern standards.
